The P.2005/T calibre is crafted from titanium with skeletonized bridges and plates for a lighter overall weight. It has a power reserve of six days, achieved through three spring barrels connected in series, with a power reserve indicator on the back or on the front, depending on the movement option. The skeletonized design allows for a clear view of the movement’s intricate details, such as the winding and unwinding of the springs, the interconnection of the wheelwork, and the tourbillon cage’s rotation. Panerai’s patented tourbillon innovation, protected since 2007, features a unique design where the tourbillon cage rotates on an axis perpendicular to the balance wheel instead of parallel. Unlike traditional tourbillons, which complete one rotation per minute, Panerai’s tourbillon cage completes a rotation every thirty seconds, providing more precise compensation for gravitational effects on the escapement.
